In this article, I want to talk about why your personal trainer in Kelowna might be doing more harm for than good by forcing you to do cardio.
Cardio seems to be one of the most popular subjects when it comes to losing weight, even though it’s not necessary to lose weight. So if you have a personal trainer who’s making you do cardio all the time to lose weight, and you’re not getting the results that you want, then I suggest you read this article.
I’m just going to say this right now; cardio is not the key to losing weight, and if you have a personal trainer who is forcing you to do endless amounts of cardio, then you need to consider if they should continue training you. Read this article and find out why.
Before we can even get started, let’s learn on what actually causes weight loss. Weight loss is caused by one thing… being in a caloric deficit. That’s it; weight loss is that simple. If you’re living in Kelowna, BC, and your personal trainer hasn’t told you that yet, then I suggest you run far away!
If you want to lose weight all you have to do is burn more calories in a day than you consume. If you can burn more calories in a day than you eat then, your body is getting use fat storage as an energy source and eventually burn it away. That’s how simple Fitness can be sometimes and a lot of people over complicated this stuff especially personal trainers. I know it’s kind of cliche for me to be saying this but there’s just so many trainers out there that have no idea what they’re doing.
If your main goal is to lose weight and maintain a nice looking body, then you should focus on putting on muscle. The reason I focus on putting muscle on is because muscle burns more calories. The more muscle you have, the more calories your body is going to burn naturally. So if you’re looking to lose weight and burn fat, then you should focus on weight lifting so that you can attain more muscle and eventually burn more calories in the day from the extra muscle that you’re putting on. If your trainer is focusing on cardio and no weight training at all, then all you’re doing is causing your body to lose muscle, and all you’re doing is slowing your metabolism down.
Your main goal needs to be focused on building muscle with a second goal of performing cardio if it’s necessary. The only time cardio is necessary is when you haven’t burned enough calories in a day, and you need to do some extra activity to get those calories out and put yourself in court and deficit.
You need to evaluate your personal training program that you got and see what kind of program your Kelowna fitness trainer has you on. I would focus on finding a fitness trainer that is going to help you build muscle first, and that can help you put together nutrition plans and customized macro plans that will actually help you lose weight.
