3 Tips for Losing Weight and Building Muscle

In this post I want to talk about my top tips for losing weight and my top tips for building muscle.

I have been a personal trainer for almost 5 years now and I have found the best ways to burn fat off the body and I have found the best ways to add hard lean muscle to the body without gaining any excessive weight in the process. First lets talk about losing weight.

Personal training tip – Fat Loss

Tip 1: You need to learn how to put yourself in a caloric deficit. This means you are burning more calories in a day than you would consume. The reason you need to learn how to do this is because when you put yourself in a caloric deficit your body has to resort to using fat for energy. In return you will lose weight and look leaner.

Tip 2: You need to stop drinking calories. This is one of the worst things you can do if you are trying to lose weight. I have been a personal trainer for a while now and this has got to be one of the biggest mistakes that people make. They don’t realize how many calories they are drinking when they have pop or a coke at the restaurant. Most of these drinks have over 250 calories and they are not even filling.

Just make sure if you want something to drink and you are going to be dieting then you need to make sure you stick with water or you are just going to make the whole process that much tougher.

Tip 3: Learn how to count macros. This is one of the biggest tips I can give you because if you don’t know how to count macros, you wont be able to know how much carbs, fats, and proteins you are putting in your body.

One of the most important aspects when you are learning how to cut properly is making sure you get enough protein while you are cutting in order to retain the muscle that you have built up in all the years you have been training.

Personal training tips 101 – Building Muscle

Tip 1: Learn to put yourself in a caloric surplus. This is the only thing you need to know how to do if you want to gain weight and get big. If you can put yourself in a caloric surplus and eat enough protein you are going to do very well.

Tip 2: Eat enough protein. You want to make sure you are eating at least your body weight in protein. So if you weight 200 pounds, then try and eat 200 pound of protein per day. This is a strict protocol I put all my personal training clients on.

Tip 3: Be ready to make progressive lift gains inn the gym. You need to make sure you are lifting heavier every single day you enter the gym. If you are not lifting heavier then what is the point of being in the gym?
